Trump refugee travel ban spurs Greater Lowell groups to action

LOWELL -- Leaders and supporters of The International Institute of New England say they've been re-energized to help refugees trying to enter the United States. The response, they say, is prompted by President Donald Trump's executive order temporarily banning refugees from seven Middle Eastern and Northern African countries -- Libya, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Syra -- from entering the United State. The Muslim-majority countries are drawn from a terrorist hotbed list initially assembled by the previous Obama administration. Trump's order does not include refugees or travelers from 40 other Muslim-majority counties.
